How to Wash Cotton Clothes
It's easy to make cotton clothes last longer with a little bit of care.
Cotton is a super-comfy fabric and a lot of its "breathability" comes from the fact that it is a very porous textile. This makes it light and easy to wear, but it also means that it absorbs sweat and naturally secreted oils very easily. Over time, if left untreated, your cotton garments might come to retain body odours or discolour in certain places (under the arms, around the collar). It is for these seasons that this kind fabric needs a little special care.
1) Pre-treat any stains with liquid and cold water. Place the required amount of detergent on the stains before you load the clothes in the washing machine. Using a color safe stain remover.
2) Put your cotton fabrics in a small basin filled with cold water. After soaking the fabric for 15-20mins, gently rub the stain.
3) Roll your dress to remove the water or gently wring out the water.
4) Fill the Machine with cold water and use a gentle washing cycle so you can protect the colors more.
5) Rinse your cotton fabrics on a cool cycle. To avoid shrinkage, wash with minimal agitation.
6) Shake garments after removal from the machine to minimize wrinkles.
7) Use steamer or iron to remove wrinkles from your cotton items. If you are concerned about embellishments, turn your cotton dress inside out and iron like this.
Extra tip: to prevent the color dropping, put the cotton dress into the salt water and soaking about 30mis when you wash the dress the first time.
