Ben Tennyson was just an average 10-year-old kid – until he discovered a strange alien watch in a crashed meteorite. Called the Omnitrix, this watch gives Ben the ability to transform into any of 10 alien heroes, all the while keeping his 10-year-old personality.
]]>Amazon.comThe consistently inventive and entertaining animated series Ben 10 comes to a close with this double-disc set, which packages the final season with a terrific feature film, Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix. The core concept of the series remains unchanged in its swan song: Average kid Ben Tennyson is still spending his summer fighting evil aliens, mad scientists and robots with the help of the Omnitrix, an extraterrestrial device which allows him to transform into a host of powerful alien forms. Ben's menu of alter egos has expanded over the course of the series, and the aptly-named Way Big and Eye Guy joining the team in Season 4 to fight long-running arch-enemies like chief baddie Vilgax ("Goodbye and Good Riddance"), the Forever King ("Perfect Day") and Dr. Amino ("Divided We Stand" and "Goodbye and Good Riddance"). The two-part episode "Ben 10 vs. The Negative 10" brings the series to an appropriately slam-bang close as Ben ends his summer by fighting the Legion of Doom-style villain army atop Mt. Rushmore. Season 4 of Ben 10 ends the series on the same high note as it launched--rich in exciting adventures, clever scripting and some genuinely stunning visuals. The Complete Season 4 set includes all ten episodes of Ben 10's final season, as well as the Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix, a surprisingly dramatic feature-length story that finds Ben racing against time to find the Omnitrix's creator before it self-destructs. Four separate versions of the film are included, three of which offer alternate opening sequences, while the fourth (the TV version) comes with a text commentary track loaded with trivia about the movie and Ben 10 in general which first-time viewers may find helpful in keeping track of the show's vast array of characters. There's also a battery of deleted scenes from the film and a character gallery for fans to enjoy. --Paul Gaita
