The oldest of five children， Karen Whitworth， born in Oregon， devoted much of her early years to drawing on any piece of paper she could get her hands on. When her family moved to Alaska， she was exposed to a new， raw， and inspiring beauty that encouraged her love of art and nature. During the 20 years she spent in the Last Frontier， the landscape and the animals that resided there were a constant source of inspiration for her paintings. Today her original art can be found in collections around the world and is featured in several US galleries. From her studio， and even the field， she creates her paintings with a love of light and vibrant color. She now lives in Washington state with her husband， Greg， and two young children where she continues to explore and be inspired by the nature that surrounds her home in the Pacific Northwest.
