The worldu2019s first wine friendly glass line presents itself in anew attire. 40 years later out of the Kufstein factory, which isthe original birthplace of the Sommeliers collection; the sons ofthe original glass makers are carrying out the Sommeliers BlackSeries. Black, non-transparent, crystal, and blown into shape usingthe original molds, the Black Series celebrates this remarkableanniversary. Crystal turns black, by adding Cobalt and Manganese tothe composition. For the trained and experienced glass maker toblow the bowl and pull the stem of such a glass, is an additionalchallenge as this composition cools and hardens much faster thanclear crystal. To raise the bar of glass making further, thestem of Sommeliers u201cRu201d Black Series was upgraded by adding a finered glass string which is jacketed in clear crystal. SommeliersBlack Series can be used as a drinking vessel but is primarilyconsidered as an object of beauty gracing the homes of winecollectors.
