The Baby Bed Box

The Baby Box Co. brings a beloved 75 year old Baby Box tradition from Finland to expectant parents around the world.

An essential first gift or purchase for new parents, the Baby Box provides a safe sleeping environment for infants. Studies have shown that this tradition has helped Finland achieve one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world.  

Expanding this lifesaving tradition to the benefit of families everywhere is our company’s mission and, therefore, our commitment to safety is absolute. All products manufactured and resold by The Baby Box Co. meet applicable international safety guidelines and we take great care with our material selections and manufacturing methods.

Our Baby Boxes meet or exceed all relevant ASTM, CPSC, JPMA, Health Canada and EN standards, and they have passed rigorous inspection: all materials from the ink on the exterior of the boxes to the glue used in their production are non-toxic and environmentally safe.

Our mattresses are firm foam pads which have been independently certified as non-toxic and safe by CertiPUR laboratories. Specifically, they adhere to the following:

- No PBDE flame retardants

- No prohibited phthalates

- No ozone depleters (CFCs)

- No mercury, lead or heavy metals

- No formaldehyde

All Baby Boxes include a firm mattress and fitted sheet.  Experts recommend using a safety-approved Baby Box or crib, covered by a fitted sheet, to reduce the risk of SIDS and other sleep-related causes of infant death.

The Bed Box is our Finnish-inspired Baby Box, which has been tastefully designed with The Baby Box Company's current collection pattern. Each Baby Box measures as follows: 26 3/4 X 16 3/4 X 11 1/2 inches.

The Baby Box comes with a matching lid and contains the following:

• 1 X fitted mattress
• 1 X waterproof cover
• 1 X 100% cotton sheet
• 1 X Membership to Baby Box University, a comprehensive online antenatal and early parenting program featuring well-schooled, innovative experts worldwide in the fields of maternal care, birth, and early childhood development.

The Bed Box serves primarily as a safe, comfortable place for infants to sleep, similar to a bassinet. An ideal spot for the box is on the floor right next to the parents' bed. Some parents prefer keeping their Bed Box in the living room or dining area so that their baby can relax nearby while the parents are busy with chores, meals, and so on. Finally, once the baby has outgrown the box, it can be re-purposed (unlike a bassinet) as a toy box or storage container perfect for storing all of the clothes that the baby has also outgrown.
