Read some of the not so perfect reviews which I think is a bit unjust to the good quality of this toy. The launcher might pose a problem to many unfamiliar users! It MUST be connect to the set (red track) FIRST before one could pushes the button to launch the car. Playing/trying it alone on the floor or handheld to try to push the button it simply won't work and might give the impression of defective launcher. It don't work independently like those Hot Wheel's launcher. I nearly returned the set for defective launcher due to trying out the laucher before connecting the track. Have patient! Assemble the whole set and magically the launcher will work as expected. Manufacturer should point this out on the instruction paper to avoid unduely returns and unjust complaints. The most irritating thing about it is that the car that comes with it WON'T work with it! It only goes half way up the track before backing down. I picked up a "Bumblebee" car on the side for it and that one works just fine.
