This is a vintage Kakeshita/Hikizuri that is in very good condition . It has elaborate designs of maple, and is perfect for the autumn season. The patterns are both handpainted using traditional Japanese dying method and embroidered by skilled craftsmen.
Hikizuri is a kind of furisode(long sleeved kimonos) worn by brides during wedding ceremonies. It is also worn by geishas, maikos and traditional Japanese dancers.
Where a normal kimono for women is normally 1.5–1.6 m (4.9–5.2 ft) long, a hikizuri can be up to 2m (6.6ft) long, hence its name "Hikizuri", which means trailing-tail. (Please refer to the last picture above for how a hikizuri looks like when worn).
