This lock plate is constructed of 11-gauge steel and comes in a chrome plated finish. It is a maximum-security locking device, which uses a flat, ring-shaped bolt to block the door’s swing, when attempts from the outside are made to force the door open. This chain door guard-type of locking hardware is strong enough to meet the Texas building code requirements, and it is designed for use with hinged, swing-in doors. The 3-inch x 3-inch jamb plate installs over the door jamb, and it’s four 3-1/2 inch long fasteners reach deep into the jack stud to provide a kick-in proof door stop. Installation of this security-locking device is easy, and in certain applications, some chiseling may be necessary to seat the jamb plate flush with the surface of the doorjamb.
