The Seiko SRP637/639 is a 47mm men's automatic watch with a stainless steel case (rubber strap for SRP639) and a black-gray analog dial protected by hardlex crystal. It uses a 4R36 caliber self-winding mechanical movement that can be manually wound and hacked (the second hand stops when the crown is pulled out). It ticks 6 times per second which gives the second hand a smoother movement than a quartz watch which ticks once per second. The watch should run for up to 41 hours when fully wound and will self-wind when moved.

Big news for Seiko dive watch fans: the Japanese brand have release a tribute to its much-loved “Turtle” reference 6309 diver from the 1970s. The new SRP7 series, due for release in 2016, will belong to Seiko’s Prospex family and use the broad cushion-shaped case of its historical forebear, but fitted with its 4R36 hand-wound day and date automatic movement. Coming in at 44.3mm, the dimensions are left largely intact. The iconic cushion case features a unidirectional bezel, an unsigned screw down crown, an upped water resistance of 200m, and a screw case back featuring the Tsunami logo. The glass is Seiko’s proprietary Hardlex. The dial is for the most part true to the original, with many of the classic cues. The indices are largely the same, as are the classic sword hours and minutes hands. Seiko retained the cool hilted sword at 12, and they even kept the classy bevel on the date window!

The dial design has just one objective; maximum legibility, even deep in the ocean where sunlight does not penetrate. The hour markers are large, so as to allow the maximum surface area and depth for Seiko's Lumibrite coating. The hands, too, are wide and easy to read. Unique design of the bezel enhance the operability
