The difference between dynamic ropes and static ropes is that dynamic ropes can take the weight of climbers falling, whereas static ropes cannot. Although it's never a good idea to test this black-and-white rule, Edelrid tested the Rap Line II Static Rope to handle two falls like a twin rope would. That doesn't mean you should lead climb with a rope like this, but this rope can provide some added peace of mind when mistakes are made on the mountain, and you somehow shock the rope in such a way that most static lines can't deal with.
