ASICS Gel Nimbus 20 | First Look

Year after year, the ASICS Gel Nimbus series has provided runners with a highly cushioned daily training option that creates a luxurious on-foot experience. In the 19th version we saw a complete redesign that featured an all new FlyteFoam midsole; now with version 20 we see smaller refinements, like tweaks to the upper to further enhance fit and comfort.

With identical tooling to its predecessor, this shoe continues to offer the plush underfoot experience that the Nimbus series is known for.
Featuring a FlyteFoam and FluidRide midsole, paired with both forefoot and rearfoot gel cushioning, the shoe provides a high level of shock absorption that is fantastic for anything from daily training to long runs. A durable rubber outsole delivers plenty of traction, and the use of a guidance line creates an ultra smooth ride from foot-strike to toe-off.

The only real update to the Nimbus 20 is in the upper.

At first glance, it appears similar to the past version, but some small alterations should help create added comfort and a more dialed-in fit. The shoe uses a Gradient mesh that offers a slightly more open design in key areas and should further increase breathability.

Small changes in overlay design will enhance fit, and improvements in the lacing system should reduce pinching and irritation. Finished off with a modified heel counter, the new Nimbus will continue to offer a snug and supportive heel fit.

History of ASICS

In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan.
He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body."

Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness.

Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.
