He's big and bulky and mean, and he has a rad goat-head staff. The staff was a little weird to put together. Typically you don't expect to have to read the instructions on how to put a goat head on a stick, but you know, sometimes it's complicated. Seriously, it's made up of five parts. When you're looking at it, you're like, "stick…goat head. Why is this more complicated?" Also, he has funky troll feet with three toes and purple wigwam leg warmers. I seem to remember Skeletor just wearing purple socks. His head comes off, like the other MCX figurines, but his hood does not. The best part about Skeletor, is that he's Skeletor, and that you can make him the butt end of all of your stop-motion jokes, just like in Robot Chicken! Mega Construx are small figurines that have lots of joints that make them pliable and bendable into almost any position. They are meant to be used for setting up photos and making stop motion videos. The bottoms of their feet are flat and have holes that fit most Lego bricks, but they don't snap in with the same solidness as a Lego minifig. These are a little softer and tend to pop out unless you are very deliberate about placement. One thing that seems to be common among the MCX toys is that if you try to get them to stand up straight with their feet on the same Lego row, they will look pigeon-toed. Separating the feet onto separate rows gives the characters a more natural look in their stance. Part of the fun with these figures is in how they bend, all for the benefit of being used with the Mega Construx stop-motion video app. My 7-year-old daughter and I put together a video with a few of the figures, to some great success. The app looks nice and it is designed to be easy, but it is still a complicated video editing app. My daughter wasn't able to figure it out by herself and needed me to read through the details and point out how to change all of the features. You can set the number of times to repeat each frame in relation to the number of frames per second that you want playback to occur for the entire clip. This was lost on my 7-year-old. Recording audio for each frame is easy. Attaching the audio to the frame is a bit confusing, especially if you did not name the recording. Also, it's obvious that the video clips on Mega Construx's website were professionally done. You won't get the same level of quality unless you have amazing lighting, a very steady phone or tablet, and a surefire way of keeping the figures in-place as you move them. All the parts snap perfectly into place. I was impressed by how functional and mobile all the parts were and the attention to details that the toys have. The design and coloring are top-notch. The toy also comes with a base that makes it great to have as a desktop companion. The parts on the toy are also swappable with the other Mega Construx Heroes sets so you can swap out body parts, accessories, etc., to make your own creation. The only downside is that I wish the toy were larger. I think the other Mega Construx Heroes toys have slightly cooler accessories and customization options.
