Please note that these collars need to be handled with care because they might cause pressure necrosis if ignored. These necrosis sites can a lot of times be mistaken to be burns.
1.Make sure the collar is not too tight for your dog's neck, neither should it be worn for a long time. Since a proper fit is important, ignoring it can lead to skin damage on the dog's neck.
2.You must take care of the amount of pressure you put on the collar. Avoid connecting the lead to the electric collar, since it will increase the pressure.
3.It is not advisable to put pressure on the electric collar when you are using a separate collar for the lead.
4.Do not leave the collar on your dog's neck for more than 12 hours a day. It is also advisable to keep repositioning the collar after every 1 or 2 hours.
5.Do not ignore the early signs of a rash or a sore. If you happen to see a sore, make sure to discontinue use until the sore is gone. If it has been 48 hours, and the sore is still not gone, it is better to see your vet.
6.Keep the neck area of your dog clean. Use a damp cloth to clean the area of the neck covered by the collar every week.
7.Although the product features 4 different training modes, you must be careful while working with static shock in particular. Because this can be potentially harmful and painful for the dog, the static shock mode must only be used by professional dog trainers in extreme conditions. If you are new to dog training, it is better to avoid using this mode.
