ASICS Snapdown 2: High performing mid-level wrestling shoes

The ASICS Snapdown 2 is the new and improved version of the Snapdown, the ultimate mid-level wrestling shoe. Perhaps you’ve been wrestling for a little while now, and it’s time to replace that first pair that you either outgrew or wore out in a matter of weeks. 

If so, this is for you. The Snapdown 2 features a full-length solid outsole, that is flexible, while providing wrestling-specific traction in key areas for better control on the mat. This new outsole design was made to be incredibly low-profile, while providing superior grip, as compared to entry level models like the Matflex.

One of the main improvements that has been made on this update is on the upper. The combination mesh and suede upper has been redesigned to have stronger, more durable materials, as well as a more up-to-date appearance. Synthetic overlays provide some added support. 

The mesh layers of the upper allow for great ventilation, so you can feel the soft, cool breeze of wrestling room air on your feet. 

Of course, the interior is lined with soft padding that helps the shoe form nicely to your foot and avoid any annoying discomfort or pinching when you take these puppies into battle. The tongue is also lightly padded and includes and integrated lace garage to hide your laces during a match.

History of ASICS 

In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan.  
He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body."
