The Dirt Transmitter

The Dirt Transmitter is a silicon fuzz tone that delivers some true versatility. This fuzz device has a bias control which allows you to control the voltage being sent to the transistors. This allows for everything from gated, 60’s fuzz tones all the way through, heavy thundering fuzz snarl with a simple twist of the dial. On top of all that, the Dirt Transmitter has loads of output, a powerful tone control and a very low noise floor! The bias control affects the voltage to the transistors which can create super cool gated Velcro fuzz when turned counter clockwise or bring it back to life by turning it clockwise. It’s “properly biased” around 2 o'clock on the dial. Adjusting the tone with the bias is a must to achieve a wide range of sounds. The fuzz control can produce tones from overdrive like break up to all out thick ripping fuzz tones while never getting flabby. Excessive amounts of volume and virtually no extraneous noise. Works great with both single coils and humbuckers, excellent clean up with the guitar volume.

Measures: 4.37” x 2.37” x 1.75”. Side mounted jacks.

Analog, true bypass and handmade one at a time in Akron, Ohio.

Power Requirements

A standard 9 volt DC power supply intended for musical instruments with a negative center 2.1mm barrel. We strongly recommend a high quality power supply with isolated outputs and good filtering to avoid unwanted noise. Will also run off a 9v battery for you olde tymee types. Current Draw is 3ma.

Warranty

EarthQuaker Devices will repair or replace any defective device for the life of the product. Warranty does not apply to the enclosure, graphics, knobs, hardware or any devices that are deliberately destroyed or modified by anyone other than EarthQuaker Devices.

Controls

  • Fuzz: Clockwise for heavier tones, counterclockwise for lighter tones.
  • Tone: Clockwise for a brighter, more cutting tone, counterclockwise to roll off top end for more mellow tones.
  • Bias: This is the heart of the Dirt Transmitter, where all of its voices can be found. It affects the voltage to the transistors which will create more gated velcro fuzz tones counter clockwise and thicker, natural fuzz tones clockwise. It’s “properly biased” around 2 o'clock.
  • Level: Clockwise for more, counterclockwise for less.
