A latch slides over the battery to hold it in place. Charges quick. My twins had about two days of play at about 5-10 minutes intervals here & there. So far so good, after three weeks of ownership. Only issue with this RC is that the controller to steer is rather counterintuitive (eg going straight requires both switches to be pressed up on the controller). Left & Right steering is with the right switch being manipulated somehow. Hard to describe, but when you play with it for a while, you kinda start to get a hang of it. It's also pretty big too. Maybe close to 16 inches in length.
