Gardens by the Bay is Singapore’s newest tourist attraction. It consists of 3 waterfront gardens at Marina Bay: Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central. Bay South newly opened its doors to the public. It consists of 2 waterfront conservatories: the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest.

The best time to visit Gardens by the Bay is in the late afternoon, around 4-5pm. Start with the cooled conservatories, and then go up to the OCBC Skyway in the evening when the weather is cooler. At the Supertree Grove, there is a nightly show (free admission), OCBC Garden Rhapsody, that showcases the magical lights of the supertrees admist music. There are 2 nightly shows: the first one at 7.45pm and the second one at 8.45pm.

Flower Dome

The Flower Dome is the larger of the 2 conservatories. It simulates a cool-dry Mediterranean climate usually found in temperate regions like Europe, South Africa and California. Catch a the brilliant changing flower display in the Flower Field that represents different seasons and festivals.

Cloud Forest

The Cloud Forest features a tropical climate, displaying various breeds of exotic plants and an impressive waterfall. Discover how mountains are formed as you venture into the Crystal Mountain, a man-made mountain that stands 35 meters tall (115 feet) and comes complete with a waterfall. An elevator brings visitors to the mountaintop, and two walkways provide the means for getting to the bottom. Among the plants that can be found in the Cloud Forest are rare Wollemi Pines from Australia and carnivorous Pitcher Plants.

Super Trees

These manmade trees reach heights of up to 16 storeys. Most are grouped together at the Supertree Grove. In addition to adding scale and dimension to the Gardens by the Bay landscape, the Supertrees serve as vertical gardens that are planted with such things as orchids, vines, ferns, and bromeliads. The Supertrees are also embedded with sustainable energy and water technologies that are integral to the cooling of the Conservatory.
