REVIEW
The compact itself is smooth, semi-matte, and feels easy in the hand. It’s a square shape, which is different to most cushions, and it means the mirror is slightly larger.
The puff is a unusual deep grey colour, and of higher quality than many. It has a grip feel on the band, making it easier to hold and apply.
Another tiiiiny gripe is that although the matte finish on the outer casing looks gorgeous, if I have even a touch of makeup residue on my fingers, it clings to the compact and is a little difficult to clean off. I also wonder if the case will scratch easily…time will tell!
Shade u0026amp; Colour
Shade 21, Bright Beige.
Shade 23, Natural Beige
It looks much more yellow on my hand than it does my face…
Surprisingly, using base products to balance it, and with proper blending, I’ve somehow managed to make it work, but if I had just swatched it in a shop I probably wouldn’t have purchased. I was really concerned I wouldn’t be able to wear it, but obviously I have, and it’s going to depend on your skin. I naturally have pink undertones in my skin, so I usually steer clear of yellow toned products.
Finish and Coverage
Ummm the coverage…amazing. Probably the best cushion I’ve ever used for coverage. It’s much more like foundation, like I said earlier. The sheerness of many Korean cushions is a frequent complaint I hear from western cushion buyers- that minimal, sheer look is definitely more Korean-style. This cushion stands out because inu0026nbsp;Korean terms, it’s full coverage, and I’d say even in western terms, still mid-full coverage. (Remember I rarely use western base products, so my judgement is largely based in K-beauty). It’s definitely not sheer!
Baseu0026nbsp;products (I used a tone up cream from Clabiane and the green toned base from Thank You Farmer) and cushion applied only on left side of my face (right on the photo). Nothing on the right.
Full face, with base products then cushion over the top.
Full face of makeup.
The finish is quite surprising. For some reason I expected matte, but it’s not. With my normal/combination skin, it’s turned out much more dewy than I thought. I do have to set it with powder (as I have in the full make up face photo above), but it’s perfect for my personal preferences. Glow girl, glow.
Lasting Power
The lasting power is decent! It doesn’t claim to be long lasting, but it’s working for me. By the end of the day, with no top ups, I’m a little shiny and the coverage wears in the normal places for my normal/combination skin (chin, nose creases, etc), but overall it’s lasting well. It’s easy and convenient to carry cushions around for top ups anyway, so it doesn’t bother me too much as long as it makes it to about a four hour mark (which this definitely does, and beyond).
Overall
I reeeally like this cushion. I’ve highlighted the only downsides for me (the extreme yellow undertones and the odd sponge shape in my compact), but they’re really minor because I love the coverage and finish. Although the undertones aren’t great, I’ve managed to make it work, and it’s worth it for the coverage option. The coverage really is fantastic, as is the wear time.
I don’t have particularly sensitive skin, so I can’t really comment on how it performs is for those who do, but the formula does feel pleasant on my face. I also can’t really comment on the soothing effect…I usually combat that during my skincare routine, and as I don’t suffer with irritated or angry skin, my makeup doesn’t really play a role in soothing.
