no need use much strength or effort at all. So it is not defective. 

 

 

 

Please take note that No.3, the round connector is changed to another design.

 All the connector (picture above) are new and stiff, top part where you connect the handle is 180 degree.
you need to fix the handle with the round connector first, and after that use your leg step on the round connector,
hand holding handle, and item can be adjust upwards (90 degree) easily. it is not defective.
