Plot Summary: Set during the Republic of China, when each region of China was ruled by local warlords. The Dou family of Foshan is an affluent family that owns and runs the largest pharmaceutical factory in town, but their wealth comes to a halt when an epidemic outbreak spreads throughout the town. Dou Sam the owner of the pharmaceutical factory is imprisoned and the Dou family pharmacy factory is forced to shut down when patients die after taking their medicine. His only daughter Dou Gaai Kei is dealt with a great blow when she loses her father, her fiance and the comfortable life she has only known of, all at the same time.
