This bag is very lightweight and thin. I did accidentally bang it into a tree branch and punctured a small hole in it and had to gorilla tape it, but it did not run or rip after the puncture (and before I could tape it). I'm sure the heavyweight bags are probably more durable, but I wanted something lighter and this was it. Plus, the price was much easier on the wallet than the heavyweight bags. I was able to stuff two sleeping bags into one of them, and plenty clothing items for two people for a week-long river trip in another. Just need something to protect the contents of your backpack without adding lots of weight? Or need it for just that one trop this summer? These rip-stop bags are an excellent choice.
