Brush Maintenance:
Water based paints: clean fresh paint on your tools with warm soapy water.
For oil/solvent based, clean with petroleum essence. If the paint is dry leave them to soak, then clean them the same way. Once perfectly clean, store them flat or with the head upward.

About Weasel hair/ Kolinsky Sable brushes (“Wolf’s hair”)
Wolf hair brushes do not exist. The legend comes from an unthinking translation of the real name: "langhao", which calls a wild weasel from Siberia. Its tail hair are yellow, terse and sharp but never very long so there are no large brushes in this material, and they don't keep large amounts of ink. Anyway that's the best tool for awkward beginners in calligraphy and there is nothing better for traditional drawaing and painting (sumi-e). Because of this hair high prices, Japanese brush makers mix them with horse mane or preferably use badger ("tanuki").
The Kolinsky (Mustela Siberica) is a species of the Mink family, a member of the Weasel clan and a native of Siberia and northeast China. There is no doubt Kolinsky is the best hair available for the manufacture of artists’ brushes due to being conical in shape, strong in character with a long tapered point and thick belly.
