Hoe gaat het? (How are you?) My name is Emma, and I live in the city of Amsterdam. My city is built on islands, and canals run throughout it. With so much water around, it’s not surprising that swimming is a popular sport here. Every summer my mom participates in "langebaanzwemmen,” or long distance swimming. It’s like a swim-marathon that can take place in the sea, a lake or a river. The race can be as long as 10 kilometers (that’s over 6 miles)!
