The mobile, however, only moves continually in the soothe/nighttime mode. If you set the music to the daytime mode, the mobile motion stops after about a minute. The motion can be restarted by hitting a button or the baby can touch a toy on the side. This feature is not so handy when the baby is young and hasn't figured out how to reactivate it. It doesn't make sense not to have the mobile able to be in motion with "awake" music when the baby would actually enjoy watching the mobile! Two month into use slightest little pull (or restriction from moving) on mobile arms strips the armature gear where it meets the base. Exchanged for new and second one, lasted a few months.
