This is a vintage Kakeshita/Hikizuri that is in excellent condition. It has a vibrant red-yellow colour combination, and elaborate designs of flower bouquets and butterflies, which are handpainted using traditional Japanese dying method.
Hikizuri is a kind of furisode(long sleeved kimonos) worn by brides during wedding ceremonies. It is also worn by geishas, maikos and traditional Japanese dancers.
Where a normal kimono for women is normally 1.5–1.6 m (4.9–5.2 ft) long, a hikizuri can be up to 2 m (6.6 ft) long, hence its name hikizuri ( which means trailing-tail). (Please refer to the last picture above for how a hikizuri looks like when worn).
