I have had several of the Timex Expeditions over the years and I always go back to them for a few reasons: They are 1) practically indestructible, 2) very readable, 3) analog, and 4) price. I've dropped mine numerous times on concrete floors and have even lost the sporty dial on one of them when it was accidentally ripped off as it got caught in a chain-link fence. I have continued to swim with it in that condition for the entire summer. You can't beat these watches. I have never needed to replace the battery, either. Basically, I wear them to the point that they look like they've been through war and I just need to say goodbye. I swim regularly, so I prefer a strap that is not leather. I'm not sure how this strap will fare, but it says "water resistant leather" on the inside. The outer part is a nylon fabric. It has a buckle, which i prefer also, as it never gets stuck like Velcro tends to do on clothes or other fabric things. BTW, there are plenty of holes to adjust to any size wrist, so you could actually buy this for a youngster. Hour, minute and second hands glow in the dark (second hand has a small circle at the tip that glows). The crown/stem has a push feature that lights the face of the watch so you can see it in the dark or in low light. There is a day of the month counter which can be set by pulling the stem out 1/2 way. Additionally, the numbers on the face include smaller military-time numbers inside to indicate 13 to 24 hours, for quick reference. The Expedition is an all-round easy watch to handle and look at. I think this Camper model is a very light-weight model compared to the others I've had before... I believe it's because the front casing seems to be made with plastic and only the back casing is stainless steel. The strap actually feels heavier than the watch itself. If you like a heavier feel, you might not like this model. Lastly, the Camper is not a big watch. But the numbers on the face are large enough to read easily and the medium size/lighter weight might be a plus for those who don't like the huge men's watches on the market these days. It's likely best worn for work & sports, which is what it's intended for. It is sporty-looking, with a rounded crystal and rounded-off overall shape, so there are no edges to get caught into anything. The brown and green colors w/ antique white face of this model makes it very attractive for wearing outdoors. Was this review helpful?Yes (0)No (0)ReportAnalog Dial Watch: A Functional Classic4/27/2014Average rating:5out of5stars, based onreviews4/27/2014by YourAverageOverConsumer ?Verified purchaserI've actually purchased at least two of these watches every year for a long time. I give them to friends who appreciate the simple things that are functional tool for living. When I travel to other countries I always bring a few of these as gifts. A good, simple watch is a universally appreciated thing. A few days ago I traded my Camper watch for a movie ticket at a cinema. Great film, so it was worth it. I just bought another one on-line and was able to pick it up at a Walmart store soon after. This is a classic Timex analog watch with a real numbered face, no digital goofiness here! I like the safari look, when I put it on it revives my inner Indiana Jones persona, and I can better face the day, on-location working on motion pictures. I kinda wish it had less plastic. Timex "improves" to many designs that should be left alone. Most people that buy the Camper watch would prefer that it stay the same and not change for decades. If I end up winning a big lottery someday, I'll still wear my Timex Camper watch. If you think I'm nuts, then why do Warren Buffett and others still wear watches that are less than $100? Because it's about telling time, not being a fashionista egomaniac. (let's see if Walmart actually posts this unedited!)Was this review helpful?Yes (3)No (2)ReportRead all reviews
