The baby’s weight gain is important to measure to see how well nutrients are contributing to the baby’s growth and development. It is very important to keep track of the baby’s weight because weight loss is usually the first sign that a baby is ill or not getting sufficient feeding for a healthy growth. Note that a baby usually loses between 5% to 7% of its birth weight within the first few days after birth. If the baby is moving around too much, the auto hold will not function. In this case, press the Hold Button when the baby is as calm as he/she will become.
