What is Lug? A lug is a little piece of the metal cap that has been bent inward to provide a gripping thread to thread with the threads on the jar's neck. There are usually about 4 lugs on the cap. The liner is a vinyl material that cannot be removed. When heated and then solidified it creates an air-tight seal. The twist refers to the non-continuous threading design on the inside of the skirt. When properly heated to no more than 212° F, the liner allows the cap to create an air-tight seal. The twist refers to the non-continuous threading design on the inside of the skirt.
