ArtSalt luminaire is of high quality and made of 100% natural and eco-friendly materials: a block of Ukrainian rock salt in the form of a cylinder, а wooden base, and hand-carved linings with a unique design depicting the hummingbird at a meal surrounded by flowers. Instead of the pink Himalayan salt mined in India, Pakistan, and China, ArtSalt natural-shaped luminaires use white salt. When heated, especially at first, the lamp emits a slight, pleasant smell of wood. In addition, due to the uneven density of the salt layers in the crystals (which may look like small dark blotches), each customer gets the lamp with a unique dispersion of light. Each salt lamp has a dimmer switch which allows the user to control its glow.

In the manufacture of lamps, the best premium stone salt from the salt mines of Soledar (Eastern Ukraine), is used. 250 million years ago, there were the shallow waters of the Permian Sea at the modern-day location of the city. The sun dried it, and the big waves of salt, which was previously dissolved in water, settled on the ground. Over time, it was covered with a thick layer of soil, and salt works of Soledar are now located 300 meters from the surface.

The mineral salt deposits were discovered in 1877. In the bowels of the mines you can find a real church, a museum, concert halls, and a speleosanatorium.
