First-hand experience of a careful mother: -

Has anyone ever used a "ear" type thermometer and found the reading to be "suspicious" or "inaccurate"? For example, 36.3 deg cel in a warm afternoon, 35.5 deg in an air-conditioned room, etc.

I have such encounters and would normally: - (1)retake (2)re-position (3)change from ear to ear (4)replace battery (5)to the extent of replacing my "branded" ear thermometer.  A normal human being's temperature has a range and I agree it does fluctuate throughout the day.

But sometimes, being a careful mother, our gut feeling will tell us: -

(1)Temp cannot be so low as the cheek and forehead looks flushed and hot.  Is my son sick?

(2)Temp still so high even after medication and rested.  Are the medication working?

This Exergen Thermometer (Temporal Artery Scanner) measures the temperature of our temporal artery.  Clinically comparable with rectal temperature.  Google it and you will know more about the clinical differences.

Ever since we started it, the readings are "stable" and "predictable".  No more 35 deg cel range for us (normal human being with no fever).  No more huge differences from ear to ear.  No more 37.5 deg cel for my sick son where our Exergen Thermometer measures 38.2 deg cel.  With that, we can at least plan for our next intervention instead of having false hope.

We saw the difference and hope you will too..

Cheers.
