The lock itself seems to be of good quality and very difficult to pick. I will not try and cut it off but I imagine it could be very time consuming. As far as the alarm， well some say it is very low on the db level. Checked contacts and batteries! No alarm whatsoever， but the lock and look of it gives us peace of mind when our bike is alone which isn&acute;t very often. A good choice for you!
