HOW IT WORKS:
Ceramides are a type of lipid naturally found in the membrane of skin cells. Skin cells in the outermost layer of the skin called the epidermis are a rich source of ceramides. Ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids all play a role in maintaining skin's ability to retain moisture. In the top layer of the skin, ceramides hold skin cells together, forming a protective layer that plumps the skin and retains moisture. Ceramides are necessary for their water-retention capacity and applying them with a topical skincare product helps provide replenishing and restoring benefits. Topical ceramides work in multiple ways to improve the skin’s texture, suppleness, and help calm signs of sensitivity. They also act as a barrier against bacteria and environmental pollutants. Plus, they're safe to use and don't normally cause skin irritation.
