My dermatologist insisted on using this after stitches were removed from surgery to remove basal carcinoma. The location on the side of my foot (!) made it difficult to keep any bandaging intact. It is easy to use and keeps the wound clean and protected. Although I was told it would take three months to heal, all but the top skin layer has grown back. Highly recommend under medical advice.

I had severe road rash from a biking crash, and read that Duoderm was the preferred solution to fast healing. I can confirm that these patches did an amazing job at promoting healing, keeping the wound clean and protected, and preventing scabbing. ConvaTec DuoDERM dressings were recommended to me by my dermatologist. She suggested using them in combination with Aquaphor healing ointment to heal a persistent skin irritation on my legs. The skin irritation would not respond to moisturizing creams that seemed to irritate it more than heal it. With two 7-day applications of Aquaphor under DuoDERM dressings, the skin irritations on my legs have healed. I expect recurrence of the problem due to my advanced age (perhaps due to poor circulation), and will reapply Aquaphor under DuoDERM dressings when it does. The procedure described here is not meant to address open wounds. It is meant only to address irritation of the top layer of skin (per my dermatologist). Since the dressings are nearly the same color asConvatec 187661 - Duoderm CGF Sterile Self Adherent Wound Dressing - 6" x 6" - Box of 5DuoDERM CGF Sterile Dressing - 4" x 4" - 5/Box Caucasian skin, they can be discretely worn without public notice. I have found them superior to normal bandages, gauze wraps, and transparent silicon scar treatment sheets.

The best application so far for me has been to close/cover the finger-tip fissures I get every winter. These are not blisters, nor obvious infections. They are short deep cuts that come back in the same place. They take forever to heal, and are ridiculously painful. Some ointments help with the pain, but anything on your fingers gets on anything you touch (think screens, hair, food & pets). Some occlusive dressings were good, but are not set up for a quarter-inch long cut at the edge of your nail. Hand-washing and kitchen work make most bandages, ointments and cremes pretty useless. I needed something that would pull the edges together, and be resistant to water. Duo-derm lets me tailor pieces to stretch over awkward areas. Sometimes I end up crafting a little cap for the tip of my finger just to get the edges to stay down. But it stays on for days, resists water, prevents pain, and speeds healing. That DuoDerm fingertip doesn't work with my tablet or cellphone screen, but I have more digits!
