James Henry Whittaker worked in the British confectionery industry at the age of 14 and moved to Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1890 where he then started manufacturing chocolate confectionery, selling it directly to customers using horse and van. Now after over 100 years, Whittaker’s has become one of the most iconic brands in chocolates and confectionary, known by all around the world.
