Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is the shelf life for Soothing Touch products? Most Soothing Touch products have a shelf life of 18 months from the time they are manufactured. Shelf life is affected by storage temperature, heat, sunlight, cross contamination, and whether it has been opened or not. To ensure that the product maintains the highest freshness level, please store in a cool area, tightly sealed when not in use.
Where are Soothing Touch products made?Soothing Touch products are all made in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA.
Are Soothing Touch products Organic? Many of the products are Organic. Check the label for specific information. Some of the product labels show a USDA Organic Certification seal and others show a 70% Organic seal.
Are Soothing Touch products GMO-free?Yes they are Non-GMO, but not Non-GMO Project verified.
What is the difference between Expeller Pressed vs. Cold Pressed? It's a good question and unfortunately there are some misconceptions out there. Expeller pressing is actually a very desirable form of extracting oils from seeds. It is Soothing Touch's understanding that all cold pressed oils are actually expeller pressed in cold temperatures but not all expeller pressed oils are cold pressed. Certain oils are cold pressed to preserve more flavor when consumed, for example olive or flax seed oil. It all has to do with temperature. Another interesting fact is that in the US, the labeling is very loosely if regulated at all. So when some are saying cold pressed, they indeed may not be at all due to very loose regulations. In Europe this is not the case and the terms have more meaning. For massage and skin purposes, non-chemical expeller pressed oils are very effective and quite healthy for the skin.
Do Soothing Touch products wash out of sheets?Yes they usually do. Soothing Touch actually formulates them to wash out easily but sometimes the oil residue can be a bit stubborn. It is recommended washing within 24 hours of use and in hot water with strong detergent. Also soaking for a few minutes in the wash cycle can help.
How do you know if a Soothing Touch product is Nut Free? All of Soothing Touch's manufacturing is done in their facility that uses nut oil and because of this, they cannot make any guarantees that a product is 100% nut free. Soothing Touch does provide ingredients listed on each product label which can be evaluated by the therapist, the client, or the doctor. Soothing Touch does offer a Nut Free Lite Oil that does not contain any nut oils. They also offer other products that contain no nut oils. But, there is always the risk of cross contamination since their facility uses nut products as well.
Is Glyceryl Cocoate (natural water dispersant) something that is considered a nut allergen? The ingredient is derived from coconuts. Most people have no reaction to coconuts.
About Soothing Touch
Soothing Touch began around 1977, in a small garage in Los Angeles, California. The late Yogi Bhajan (Founder) was a Kundalini Yoga teacher and master from India who had moved to the West to teach yoga, meditation, and healthy eating habits. His students were from all walks of life, and they were learning how to live the life of a householder and maintain their yogic lifestyle in an ashram / group environment. In their quest to find a way to support themselves, “Yogi Ji” provided them a collection of ancient Ayurvedic formulas for oil blends that had been used for centuries in India. He knew the value of a good oil blend for the body and the coming need and popularity of the massage and holistic markets in the US.
So began the business of Soothing Touch, very simply, with hopes that enough money could be generated to live on. Little did they know that the business would not only provide a small but steady income for a group of young, eager, starry-eyed yoga students but also one day provide over 200 natural, high quality massage and spa products for therapists and customers around the world.
Soothing Touch continued to grow and prosper. They moved to Eugene, Oregon and expanded their product offering to include Ayurvedic creams and lotions, topical pain relief gels, body butte
