The painting was made by aviation artist Jason Breidenbach in 2011. The print includes a detailed description of the WWII bombing mission of the Williams crew on the famous plane Nine Yanks and a Jerk when it was hit by an unexploded German .88mm anti-aircraft shell. The mission date was February 25, 1944, which was one of the Big Week raids to bomb aviation targets near Nurnberg/Furth, Germany. It was their deepest raid into Germany to date. It was also one of the crew's most dangerous missions. The same plane was flown just a few weeks earlier by their famous squadron commander Major James M. Stewart of Hollywood fame. Quotes from several crew members of the Williams crew are included, as well as the names, ranks, and positions of each crew member at the time of the mission. The 703rd Bomb Squadron patch (which was part of the 445th Bomb Group) is also displayed on the print. The aircrews' medals received by most of the crew are included as well.Feature
