This particular Mantaiko we're offering is the most premium grade from a famous producer in Hokkaido. It is exquisitely presented in a wooden box nicely befitting its premium standard of quality.

Mentaiko-based dished are gaining popularity fast! Pasta, rice, half-shell scallop, this stuff just makes everything taste better! Mentaiko-based dishes are really gaining in popularity. Originally created in Korea, this spicy, salty and crunchy dish has been assimilated by the Japanese who have thankfully combined it with butter/mayonnaise or some creamy sauce to create one of the most heavenly tastes ever.

From pastas, half-shell scallops, salmon, don buri, to pizzas. There are increasingly more items in Japanese restaurants being paired with mentaiko sauce because of its great taste. Most popular with Spaghetti. To make this, take a dollop of mentaiko and mix it with vegetable oil or a creamy mild olive oil. Personally, I like to add a bit of butter or mayonnaise as well but if you're worried about the fat, you might skip this. Some black pepper will also mix nicely to this. And don't forget the strips of nori (seaweed)

In Japan, mentaiko is found most often in onigiri, perhaps the national snack of Japan. It can also be eaten on its own, as a side-dish. Usually paired with a good sake. Since what we offer is of a good grade and brand, you might choose to eat it on its own more often.

To make anything delicious, mix mentaiko with mayonnaise and use it as a sauce. Tasty but rather sinful and addictive, so do this sparingly.
