Selenite is a crystalized form of gypsum. Its name comes from the Greek word for moon because the ancient Greeks believed that this crystal waxed and waned with the moon. This stone is very soft, it can even be scratched with a fingernail. It is also one of the few rocks that can be quickly dissolved in water. Even minor exposure to water will ruin the finish on this stone. Selenite is associated with the (6th) third eye chakra. Each Zentron branded sphere is polished from all natural crystal and comes with a velvet carrying pouch and a Zentron rock information sheet. Each stone will have a slightly different appearance due to the uniqueness of the rock from which it is cut.
