Mangosteen has long known as the Queen of the Tropical Fruit for its great taste. However, in the recent years, research has found that not only does it taste good, but its dark purple-red peel has a very high anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.Research shows that Mangosteen peel can produce xanthone compounds, ie substances that are formed from the isolated skin of the mangosteen fruit. Levels reached as high as 123.97 mg per ml. Xanthones have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. It compounds to counteract free radicals and prevent cell damage that hampered the process of cell degeneration.
