Moxibustion is a chinese herbal remedy, classifed under acupuncture, which uses a mixture of fire and natural herbs to produce heat stimulation and heal the body. Its frequently used for a variety of complaints, including headaches, tiredness, breach pregnancy or changing the position of a baby in the womb. A lit moxa roll is usually placed 3cm or thereabouts from the affected area, and held in position for 5-7 minutes. No scarring occurs, however a redness occurs in the area temporarily, which in turn boosts the healing process and body reaction in that area. Moxibustion is known to effect the function of the meridians and points is applied to in order to provide relief or treatment for diseases.
