Customers' Reviews (What People Say About the Lâg Ukuleles)

I am no expert on Ukuleles, this being my first purchase inspired by the ever increasing coverage of the popularity of this instrument that rightly or wrongly goes hand-in-hand with the name of that irrepressible northern entertainer George Formby, the star of stage and screen who despite not being a 'looker' always managed to pull beautiful and sophisticated women with a jauntily strummed ditty on his ever present ukulele.

Playing the guitar a little helped a bit although the chords are different finger shapes, but with or without guitar experience it does not take long to learn a few chords and start playing some tunes, and certainly the sound that this lovely little instrument produces in basic strumming mode is more harmonious, rounded and 'happy' than the guitar.

I have been absolutely delighted with my Lag Mahogany Concert Ukulele and good quality Gig Bag. The instrument is beautifully made with a slightly bowed back and as is claimed has STUNNING looks. So far I have had no trouble with keeping it in tune, and could not have wished for a classier looking, great sounding instrument which in my humble opinion offers unrivalled value for money. Perhaps for 2, 3, or even 4 times or more money I might have obtained something a little better but it would only have been exceedingly marginal as the Lag U77C is of very high quality and more than adequate for non-professional use.

I can now understand why popularity of the Ukulele is sweeping the country. Easy to get playing, lots of fun for all the family, so practical and easy to transport, and the ability to entertain others at the drop of a hat. No wonder dear old George was able to pull the birds at will! A good example of his 'pulling techniques' is featured in one of his many hit songs "Leaning On A Lamppost.":-

I'm leaning on a lamppost at the corner of the street
In case a certain little lady comes by,
Oh me, oh my, I hope the little lady comes by.
I don't know if she'll get away, she doesn't always get away,
But anyhow I know that she'll try,
Oh me, oh my, I hope that little lady comes by.
