Original mixed media on canvas, hand signed by Fiora Boes

“Colorful Marilyn” by Fiora Boes

Deep sensational colors resonate with mystery in this iconic Marilyn.  We are reminded and connected to this glamorous and public figure by somehow feeling her private emotion behind the mask.  This bold provocative work is an original mixed media on canvas, hand signed by Fiora Boes. This painting of Marilyn is transformed with color and energy bringing us a new perspective to her memory. Another true example of why we compare Fiora’s work to the power of a Warhol.

Marilyn is part of Fiora Boes Iconic Series that was released in early 2014. The Fiora Boes Iconic series 2014 was inspired by her love of cultural, historical, and pop iconic symbols as a medium of communication through familiar images.  In this series, Fiora chose two of our most well -known and beloved women, Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana.

Fiora Boes:  Is a Los Angeles-based artist whose work in painting, printing, and photography is informed by her work in film and fashion, and has historically expanded into curatorial and event innovations. Boes studied fine art and photography at the famously interdisciplinary Otis College of Art and Design and began photographing celebrities and rock stars -- commissioned by the Hard Rock Cafe to produce a collection of large format digital pieces that were based on her photographs and turned into mixed media originals. Soon after she was commissioned by the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas to do portraits of specific rock stars for the VIP suites of the hotel. Virgin Records then jumped on board and purchased several of Boes' photographs for EP covers.

Fiora had her first solo show in Beverly Hills at the Kantor Gallery where she was the first woman (and one of the first few living non-blue chip artists to be exhibited.) Modern Living, a luxury lifestyle boutique in the heart of Beverly Hills known for furnishing the homes of A-list celebrities and million-dollar clients, sold out of Fiora's first collection of large-format digital and mixed media pieces.

In the late 1990's Fiora designed and manufactured her own art-based collection of women's sportswear that was featured on runways in Japan and sold at Barneys, Neiman-Marcus, Macy’s and Nordstrom as well as upscale boutiques around the world. Fiora's art and design sensibility had versatility in feature film work as well. She was the graphic designer for the feature film Scooby-Doo and costume designed the cult classic SLC PUNK. The "hero" jacket from SLC Punk is currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in the History of Punk exhibition.
Having rented her own art for Microsoft commercials and major motion pictures like Terry Zwigoff and Dan Clowes' Art School Confidential,  Fiora started a gallery of her own, showing cutting-edge art where she could not only display and sell other artists’ work, but also rent it for feature films, television, and commercials. Fiora's gallery has worked with legends such as Tony Alva, Benicio del Toro, Clive Barker, Mark Mothersbaugh, Shepard Fairey, Mr. Brainwash, Allee Willis, and many others. This Los Angeles based gallery is called Ghettogloss and has been in business for 13 years and is widely regarded to be the most cutting-edge gallery in town.  Its new location in the up-and-coming neighborhood of Eagle Rock opened in June 2013 with an exhibit that features Fiora's new series of large-format digital and mixed media on canvas works, entitled Tightrope.
