The M.Zuiko Digital ED 17mm F1.2 PRO creates a beautiful cream-like spectacle lens thanks to ultra-high-precision aberration measuring instruments using microscope series. Olympus' high-precision aberration measuring instruments have been used during the research phase to measure the optical properties of historically acclaimed lenses. This measurement method will become the basis for the development of new lenses in the future. During the development of the lens, aberration measuring instruments create an ideal optical design that eliminates all aberrations, making the lens more perfect.

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 17mm F1.2 PRO uses a unique design: As the spherical aberration appears towards the edge of the lens, the lens deliberately directs the light to the edge of the lens, allowing the image to form in the foreground. At the same time, this kind of deliberately maintaining a spherical aberration has a feathery bokeh effect.

Extensive use of special optics for high resolution performance

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 17mm F1.2 PRO features up to six ED low-dispersion lenses. It is the largest of the M.Zuiko Digital lenses, including the newly developed ED-DSA double-sided super aspherical low dispersion lens. It combines the features of the original ED low dispersion lens and DSA double-sided super aspherical lens. This unique optical structure effectively compensates for the common color leakage (axial chromatic aberration) of an extremely large aperture lens and the problem of color leakage (chromatic aberration of magnification) around the screen. Even at the F1.2 maximum aperture setting, it is possible to perfectly restore the scenery around the picture and provide a beautiful bubbling like bokeh.

The ED-DSA double-sided super aspherical low-dispersion lens was used for the first time in the production lens of the Olympus. It was the original DSA double-sided super aspherical lens made of ED low-dispersion glass. The ED-DSA double-sided super aspheric low-dispersion lens combines excellent chromatic aberration correction capabilities with ED low-dispersion lenses, and DSA double-sided super aspherical lenses for spherical aberration, comet aberration, and astigmatism correction capabilities. The use of the ED-DSA double-sided super aspherical low-dispersion lens has simplified the optical structure of the lens, reducing the number of lenses and shortening the length of the lens without deteriorating the optical performance.

This lens has excellent close-up shooting capabilities, its closest focusing distance is 20cm, the highest magnification is 0.15X (equivalent to 35mm camera standard: 0.3X), you can use close-up to enhance the blurring of background bokeh.
