Adopting anti-reflective coating <SWC (Sub wavelength Structure Coating)> by new technology, it suppresses the occurrence of flare and ghost due to light with a particularly large incidence angle that could not be prevented in the past.

■ UD lens
Ideal chromatic aberration correction with more lenses.
Under this theme, UD (Ultra Low Dispersion) lenses were developed.
It is highly effective in eliminating secondary spectra, has optical properties with low refraction and low dispersion characteristics, and anomalous dispersion characteristics like fluorite, and it has performance comparable to 1 fluorite in 2 sheets.
■ Ring USM
USM (Ultrasonic Motor) = Ultrasonic motor supports high focus / high response, quick focusing.
It has ideal characteristics as a lens driving motor, such as little operation noise.
■ Rear Focus
A technology to reduce the total weight of moving lenses by using a part of the lens configuration as a focusing lens.
It realizes high-speed and precise AF control, excellent holding balance, and compactness.
■ Full time manual focus
After autofocus, manual focus can be instantly done just by rotating the focus ring after one shot AF so that the photographer can finally adjust the focus.
■ Dustproof and drip-proof

■ SWC (Subwavelength Structure Coating)
Special coating SWC (Subwavelength Structure Coating) is a new antireflection technology that suppresses reflection of light by arranging innumerable nano-sized wedge-shaped structures smaller than the wavelength of visible light on the surface of the lens.
Even with lenses with large curvature such as wide-angle lenses, the occurrence of flare and ghosts in the periphery can be suppressed considerably.
