Product Description: Connects your DisplayPort port using HDMI cables to your existing HDMI devices. The format supports both digital video and audio. While DisplayPort connectors are capable of passing an HDMI signal, DisplayPort and HDMI signals are basically different and not compatible with each other. This adapter does not actively convert a DisplayPort signal into an HDMI signal. It is a passive adapter that requires a dual mode DP++ port (DisplayPort++), meaning that DVI and HDMI signals can also be passed through the port.
