About this item: Woven in Guatemala on a backstrap loom, this 100% cotton ruana has an air of natural elegance. Crafted from fibers that are naturally ivory and sepia in color, the soft ruana has long tassels that add attractive detail to the design by Luisa Villavicencio.

About our Artist: 'My story is really the story of my whole family, beginning with my parents,' says Luisa Villavicencio. 'My father was passionate about growing cotton, a crop that originated with the Maya. We work with only three pure colors. Apart from the crude hue, we use a seed known as 'ixcaco' for the brown cotton. We call our third color jade. All the rest of our colors are a result of combining these three when weaving the fabric.'...
