I gave it 5 stars for the price vs quality. Obviously you can pay a lot more and get something better.The plastic hood is sturdy enough to be durable as is, but you have to be careful with it. You could reinforce it where it mounts and it would then be much more durable.The magnifying lens is held in place with a plastic ring and 4 screws, unlike the ones that use little tabs. I've had many a lens smash on the floor with the cheep hood and junky tabs. The arm has all screws so you can tighten them all and get a nice action out of the arm.
