This is a Trumpeter 1/700 scale assembly and painting required plastic model kit of the USS Hornet (CV-8), a Yorktown-class aircraft carrier of the United States Navy. Model kit features: Optional full or waterline hull, detailed hangar deck and superstructure, ship's boats, name plate and display stand. Includes clear-molded aircraft (B-25B (x8) and 12 each SBDs, TBD-1s, and F4F-4s). Also includes vacuform water texture display base for waterline version. Painting reference for port, starboard and overhead plan views; decals for flight deck, hull and aircraft. Completed model is approximately 14.2" long. 465 parts. ABOUT THE CV-8 HORNET: The CV-8 Hornet was most notable for launching the "Doolittle Raid" and as a participant in the "Battle of Midway". The Hornet (CV-8) also participated in the Battle of Midway, in naval engagements around Solomon Islands, and was sunk by Japanese dive-bombers and torpedo-bombers off Santa Cruz Islands during in 1942.
