Most dogs can easily be trained to drink out of a water bottle by putting a little peanut butter on the tip of the nozzle. For this to work, you must removed their normal water dish while training them to use the bottle.
The nozzle of the bottle is approximately 8 1/2 - 9'' from the floor, at a comfortable height for most small sized dogs. Accomodates standard 32 oz. round water bottles bottles. If you use the Lixit bottle with the angled end (or other similar bottles) the nozzle will be a little higher than 9''. If you have a very small dog, you should use a standard shaped bottle so the nozzle will be lower.
The bottle will fit loosely into the stand, and sit with a slight tilt. This tilt helps discourage drips (from the bottle).
