When you move your fingers to shift, you do so expecting instant engagement in the next gear. But, as you well know, that isn't always the case. SRAM's ZeroLoss technology ensures that your patience isn't tried and that your gears are ready when your legs are. The Rival 11-speed group is the latest to receive this technology. Although Rival sits below Force in the SRAM line, it benefits from the same technology, which in turn has trickled down from SRAM's top-of-the-line Red group. This includes a move to 11-speed technology. so you'll have 2 additional gears. ZeroLoss means that when you shift, the cables are instantly engaged so that there is no pause to move the chain into the next position, for the front or back of the drivetrain. Once in the big ring, the trim adjusts to ensure a smooth and quiet drivetrain. The DoubleTap shifting means short, quick shifts. And, to further guarantee that your shifts are solid, SRAM incorporated its reach adjust feature into the shifters so that they may be moved as close to or far away from the bars as your hand size dictates. Cabling may be routed through the Rival Shifters in two different ways, which allows for them to run on either the inside or outside of the handlebars--this provides a streamlined look and optimal cable placement no matter what handlebars or frame you ride. With all the similarities to Force and Red, what exactly are the differences in the Rival 11-speed Shifters? Well, the levers are carbon fiber, but the body and all hardware is heavier stainless steel as opposed to the titanium featured in the other groups. This adds a bit of weight, though not enough to slow you down. Also, the ergonomic shape of the Rival is not quite as defines as the more pricey shifters. But with ZeroLoss and DoubleTap technology you still enjoy flawless, competition-level shifting.
